School Guidance: Sexuality and Sexual Health Education for LGBTQIA+ Students
Schools play a vital role in supporting the sexual health education LGBTQIA+ students. This guidance document has been developed to support schools in the provision of evidence-based sexuality and sexual health education (SSHE), which is closely linked to respectful relationships and consent education.
The document supports a whole-of-school approach, recognising that SSHE messages for LGBTQIA+ students are most effective when they are well-planned and consistent across both schools and the community. This approach has been shown to promote communication and confidence, allowing staff to feel supported in their work with students and their communication with parents.
